'Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.'- Angela Carter

2018 Anticipated Reads: Part 2

Hello everyone! I'm back with round 2 in my most anticipated 2018 reads. I love the chance to lose myself in new worlds and 2018 promises to be a corker. Here are another three books that I am looking forward to next year:

Everless
Everless by Sara Holland

I am a sucker for YA fantasy so when the cover alone popped up on my radar I was intrigued. Set in the land of Sempera, the rich control everything including time. Hours are bound in iron coins and allowing the rich to live for centuries and the poor to bleed themselves dry. It sounds like Red Queen meets In Time and I can't wait to sink into this world.

How Do You Like Me Now?
How Do You Like Me Now? by Holly Bourne

I would read Holly Bourne's shopping list, so when it was announced that she would be releasing her first adult book I knew it was going to be something that was going to be shooting to the top of my TBR pile. Pitched as 'a blisteringly funny, honest and moving exploration of love, friendship and navigating the emotional rollercoaster of your thirties' it sounds like a book that is right up my street. Although not quite 30, all of my friends are starting to get married or have babies so this sounds like a refreshing and hilarious book that will resonate with many of us!

The Queens of Innis LearThe Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton

It's a fantasy retelling of King Lear and that is literally all I needed to know. King Lear is my all time favourite Shakespeare play and when I stumbled across this book there was no hesitation in my mind about needing it in my life. The erratic decisions of a prophecy obsessed king leaves the Innis Lear without its magic. The islands only chance is the realm has of survival is the crowning of a new monarch to resurrect magic and to defend the land. With the king refusing to crown an heir until the longest night of the year, the sisters prepare for war. How good does this sound?!

BLOG TOUR: Masquerade - Laura Lam

IT'S FINALLY HERE! If you've been following my blog from the start, then you know I've been a huge fan of Laura Lam's Micah Grey series and how sad I was when Strange Chemistry went under. Since then, Laura's published the amazing False Hearts with Tor and now we will finally have the third and final book in the Micah Grey trilogy. Following on from Pantomime and Shadowplay, the trilogy will finally be complete and I am so excited! So without further ado, here is a snippet from Masquerade with an explanation of the research behind it from Laura:

We're Going Through Changes...

Hello hello hello everyone. You may (or may not) have noticed that this blog has been looking a little bare these last two years, and in all honesty, it's in part to do with me, and in part to do with the changes in the blogging community. Since I last posted a life update, I have been lucky to have 3 different jobs in publishing, with the most recent starting on Monday, I've attended so many different music gigs, my first festival, lost my best friend and greatest dog known to man and fallen out of love with my blog... it's been pretty hectic. Be warned, this is going to be a long and rambling post.
