'Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.'- Angela Carter

2018 Anticipated Reads: Part 3

Happy New Year!

There's been a bit of a delay in part 3 of my 2018 anticipated reads but I started a new publishing job last week so everything has been a bit of a whirlwind! It's all very exciting and I feel like I've finally settled into what I want and the company I work for seems absolutely perfect.

Anyway, on to my next three anticipated 2018 releases:

Catwoman: Soulstealer (DC Icons, #3)
Catwoman: Soul Stealer by Sarah J. Maas

I've recently just finished Marie Lu's take on Batman and have Leigh Bardugo's Wonder Woman sitting on my shelves waiting to be devoured, so I really cannot wait to get stuck into Catwoman. I've been really getting into DC this last year through reading the DC Rebirth series and I'm looking forward to reading more. Catwoman isn't a character that I know a whole lot about, and SJM is one of my all time favourite authors so looking forward to getting stuck in!

Mary's Monster: Love, Madness and How Mary Shelley Created Frankenstein by Lita Judge

Frankenstein is one of my all time favourite classics. I loved reading it, I loved studying it and I love Mary Shelley. This book sounds fantastic and is publishing for the 200th anniversary of Frankenstein. Taken from the Wren & Rook website this book is going to be everything I want it to be:

Part biography, part fantasy and part feminist allegory, Mary's Monster is an engrossing take on one remarkable woman. And her monster.

Run, Riot
Run, Riot by Nikesh Shukla

Author and editor of The Good Immigrant Nikesh Shukla has penned his first young adult novel and I cannot wait to read it. The book sounds like it will be Orangeboy meets The Hate You Give and is part of such an important movement. I have learnt so much from reading these books and have realised how ignorant I have been to the extent of the things that still happen today. I have so much more to learn and I can't wait to get stuck in. This is one that should be on everyone's TBR pile.
