'Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.'- Angela Carter

Harry Potter A-Z: C is for Crumple-Horned Snorkack

Hey guys, I've just been thinking that I generally don't have a whole lot to post on a Saturday so decided that I'm going to do an A-Z of the world of Harry Potter for 26 Saturdays :). A way to explore the world once again and to fill in some information on bits. Granted the majority of us will already know these things so I'll try and get some obscure ones in here too :). Feel free to share yours in comments, posts and such as well - that's totally cool with me!

C is for Crumple-Horned Snorkack

“You can laugh! But people used to believe there were no such things as the Blibbering Humdinger or the Crumple-Horned Snorkack!”
'The Crumple-Horned Snorkack is an elusive magical creature believed to live in Sweden. However, it was never found (even by Luna Lovegood, a wizarding naturalist who searched the globe for impossible creatures for years) and is very likely a delusion of Xenophilius Lovegood. Outside of the Lovegood family, Colin Creevey also seemed to believe in the existence of the creature, once expressing an interest in being hired by The Quibbler to try and photograph one.' [Original source here].

I felt it best to copy and paste this bit because there isn't a whole lot on these creatures. Whether they're real or not, we'll never know! I love everything to do with Luna Lovegood so I figured why not make C about her as well :). How adorable is that gif as well?! I just wish I could get my hands on a hat like that.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #11

This is a meme hosted by me here at my blog :).The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! I will be picking a topic within HP for us to focus on each week and then if anyone wants to take part feel free! All I ask is to link back here, to my blog :). There is now a full list of the topics to come here. This weeks is:

        Favourite Newspaper in the Series
This was one of the main things which cracked me up in the series. A magazine which posts strange theories and bizarre news, it isn't surprising to discover that it is Xenophilius Lovegood behind it all. As the father of Luna, it's is easy to see where she gets her strange theories from! Despite its usually eccentric articles, when the time begins to get darker in the series, it is the first magazine which begins to publish important articles that The Daily Prophet are avoiding.

REVIEW: The Fault in our Stars - John Green

The Fault in our Stars - John Green
The Fault in Our Stars
Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.
