'Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.'- Angela Carter

World Book Night

"I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound or stab us. If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for? So that it will make us happy, as you write? Good Lord, we would be happy precisely if we had no books, and the kind of books that make us happy are the kind we could write ourselves if we had to. But we need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us. That is my belief."
Franz Kafka

Today has been AMAZING celebrating World Book Night. I was so excited to have been accepted to give copies of Damage by Josaphine Hart to future readers. It was an amazing day and ALL books went! (Alongside copies of The Island by Victoria Hislop). Can't wait for next year to do it all over again. I hope you guys have celebrated World Book Night with your own lovely books! Or perhaps a new book? :)

Showcase Sunday #32

It's Sunday again so we all know that it's time for Showcase Sunday. It's a lovely weekly meme hosted by Vicki over at Books, Biscuits and Tea, and it allows us to show off all the lovely buys this week. I love this meme as it gives a chance for us to show and browse so many books!

World Book Night 2013

I'm so excited to post that I've been selected as a volunteer for World Book Night 2013! Very happy about this and I will be distributing my first choice too!

What is World Book Night? (Taken from the website)

World Book Night is a celebration of reading and books which sees tens of thousands of passionate volunteers gift specially chosen and printed WBN books in their communities to share their love of reading.
