2014 End Of Year Book Survey
The lovely Jamie at Perpetual Page Turner has hosted an end of year bookish survey for the past five years and I've loved doing them! This is this years one, don't hesitate to fill it out too and link up on Jamie's post!

Number Of Books You Read: 131
Number of Re-Reads: None!
Genre You Read The Most From: YA Contemporary I think.

1. Best Book You Read In 2014?
(If you have to cheat — you can break it down by genre if you want or 2013 release vs. backlist)
Jewel by Amy Ewing... and The Walled City by Ryan Grauding.... and Red Rising by Pierce Brown... and Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch.

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?

Not a 2014 release by Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick. I just didn't love it!

3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read in 2014?

The Selection series by Kiera Cass. I didn't expect to enjoy them as much as I did! I loved them!

4. Book You “Pushed” The Most People To Read (And They Did) In 2014?

Probably The Jewel by Amy Ewing. No idea if people actually went on to read it!

5. Best series you started in 2014? Best Sequel of 2014? Best Series Ender of 2014?

Bloody hell. I started a lot of wonderful series this year so series starters though are three again! Snow Like Ashes, The Jewel and Red Rising. See above links!

Sequel: What a Girl Wants by Lindsey Kelk. Absolutely hysterical!

Ender: Delete by Kim Curran. I hope you all get the chance to read this soon!

6. Favorite new author you discovered in 2014?

FNUUUR! Sara Raasch. There. She wins. Snow Like Ashes!

Doggo! If you haven't read Waiting for Doggo I don't know what you're waiting for :)

12. Most beautifully written book read in 2014?

The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. It's gorgeous.

13. Most Thought-Provoking/ Life-Changing Book of 2014?

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Such an in-depth and heart breaking look into suicide.
Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill. A close look at the dangers of the pressure to look perfect. Feminist fiction at its best.

14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2014 to finally read?

The Selection series! I fell in love.

15. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2014?
I think most of American and Maxon's conversations could be copied into this section. I'm going to go with this one; it cracked me up so much!:

“I hit your thigh!”
“Oh, please. A man doesn’t need that long to recover from a knee to the thigh.”

16.Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2013?
How I did this: Went to my read books on Goodreads and sorted by page number and just looked for what I knew I read this yeaer that was the shortest and longest.

Shortest: The Queen's Army - Marissa Meyer (18 pages)
Longest: A Clash of Kings - George R. R. Martin (911 pages)

17. Book That Shocked You The Most
(Because of a plot twist, character death, left you hanging with your mouth wide open, etc.)

The Walled City had me gaping at the book a lot! I didn't expect certain elements and the graphicness of some parts of the story.

18. OTP OF THE YEAR (you will go down with this ship!)

Eleanor & Park. Thirteen Reasons Why. My heart couldn't handle those feels.

27. Hidden Gem Of The Year?

For me, Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I've seen her books everywhere but always thought that they weren't for me. Oh how wrong I was. Cannot wait to read the rest of the series!

28. Book That Crushed Your Soul?

Thirteen Reasons Why. It broke me but enlightened my all at the same time. I definitely recommend it .

29. Most Unique Book You Read In 2014?

The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton. I've never read anything like it. It's touching, heartbreaking but so beautiful.

30. Book That Made You The Most Mad (doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t like it)?

Probably Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan. It made me so angry at all of the characters that tried to get in the way of the couples in the book. Not much makes me as angry as homophobia.

  1. Looks like you had a great year in reading! I really need to read The Miniaturist next year, it's one of those books I've been eyeing since I first heard of its publication.

Happy New Year! All the best for 2015 :)

  2. I love the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout! It is one of my all time favorite series! Also,if you loved Half-Blood then you'll love the rest of the series because the books just get better and better as the series goes on.

I'm on the fence about the Selection Series. Half of me doesn't think I'll like it because it doesn't seem like something I would love, but then I see positive, glowing reviews or recommendations from people who have similar tastes in books as me and I want to read them again.

I read Fangirl this year and loved it and everyone tells me I need to read Eleanor and Park asap. I really want to read it, but I don't want to cry and almost everyone who has read it says they cried when reading it and I don't want to cry. *sigh* but I will probably end of reading it anyways.

    Happy 2015 reading:D
