If you have ever asked yourself where the Golden Snitch came from, how the Bludgers came into existence or why the Wigtown Wanderers have pictures of meat cleavers on their robes, you need Quidditch Through the Ages. This edition is a copy of the volume in Hogwarts School Library, where it is consulted by young Quidditch fans on an almost daily basis.

I really enjoyed learning more about Quidditch, about its origins and how it all came about. I love that Rowling adopts different 'academic' styles as she writes these books too and that they read exactly how you pictured them to in the books. When reading it, I could just imagine myself curled up in Ravenclaw's common room, Luna to one side creating her Gryffindor hat ready to roar. Rowling is such a talented writer and I love how much depth there is to the Harry Potter series. She's thought out every nook and cranny of this world and I hope there'll be more snippets to come in the future!
Despite being a self-confessed Potter nerd, I have never read the books beyond Harry Potter and The Beadle in the Bard, I feel this is a terrible, terrible crime, they just never really appealed to me before that. However, I am so glad to hear you enjoyed this so much!
ReplyDeleteI really wish she had a book out for Hogwarts: A History. How cool would that be!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed these too when I read them!! I agree with you, it makes me incredibly happy that JKR delved into every single nook and cranny of the Potter world and gave us little gems like these ^^ I remember HAVING to have these after another series re-read didn't quite quench my hangover xD Glad you enjoyed this one Leah xxx
