We Were Liars - E. Lockhart
We are the Liars.
We are beautiful, privileged and live a life of carefree luxury.
We are cracked and broken.
A story of love and romance.
A tale of tragedy.
Which are lies?
Which is truth?
“Always do what you're afraid to do....I will prove myself strong when they think I am sick.I will prove myself brave when they think I am weak.”
“There is not even a Scrabble word for how bad I feel.”
All of the characters in this novel had such strong personalities and I loved them all. I could empathise with so many of the characters and despite being set in the twenty first century, Lockhart conveys such a strong sense of 'old money' and I felt like I was reading something out of the 1920's. This just made me fall in love more. There's friendship, there's tragedy, there's illness, there's loss; there's just so much going on in this book and I loved it. I can't recommend this book enough. A book that went from making me want to put it down to giving it a 5* rating is insane. I've never had such a drastic turnaround when reading a book. Can't recommend it enough and I definitely understand the hype!
