'Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.'- Angela Carter

Harry Potter A-Z

A Saturday post I have been doing to spread the Harry Potter love and to take us all on a trip down memory lane :).

O is for Occlumency
The ability to see into the memories of another person. I doubt we will ever forget the battles that Snape and Harry had in Order of the Phoenix in Harry's attempt to block out Voldemort from his mind.

Severus Snape: "It appears there is a connection between the Dark Lord's mind and your own. Whether he is, as yet, aware of this connection is for the moment unclear. Pray he remains ignorant."
Harry Potter: "You mean if he knows about it then, he'll be able to read my mind."
Severus Snape: "Read it, control it, unhinge it... Used properly, the power of Occlumency will help shield you from access or influence. In these lessons I will attempt to penetrate your mind. You will attempt to resist. Prepare yourself! Legilimens!"

  1. Great one! The dialogue and many other aspects of Harry Potter remains unmatched :) It's always great to look back on these awesome moments!

  2. Ooooh I love Occlumency! I mean it's intrusive and all but it's so interesting and hard to master and just super cool all over! :D
    Great pick this week! :)

  3. That scene between Harry & Snape was INTENSE. I remember being surprised that Snape had actually answered some of Harry's questions during but the whole thing was pretty scary O.O Anyways Occlumency is dead useful and really fascinating to me...even if it is a bit 'wrong' hehe

Please leave a comment, I love reading each and every one of them :).
